Terms of Use

Effective date: June 9, 2026
These terms explain what The Right Story provides, what you agree to when you take part, who owns the finished book, and how payment and refunds work.

What we provide

The Right Story builds an original, personalized fiction series — usually three books — designed around an individual student's identity, interests, and reading needs. Each series is created from scratch for one student. The books are not adapted from existing works and are not transferable to another student.

Who can take part

Information about a student may only be submitted by a parent, guardian, or educator who has the authority to share it. By submitting a profile, you confirm that you have that authority.

How the process works

  1. You complete a student profile through our intake form.
  2. We build the series in a set order: profile, then story plan, then the written book.
  3. We deliver Book 1, and later Books 2 and 3, with reading materials for the family or teacher.

Who owns the finished book

The story, characters, world, artwork, and writing in every book belong to CulturaCanvas Studios. We grant the family and, where relevant, the school a personal, non-commercial licence to read, print, and use the book with the student it was built for.

You may
  • Read the book with the student as many times as you like.
  • Print copies for the student's personal use.
  • Use the book in the classroom it was built for.
Without written permission, you may not
  • Sell or publish the book.
  • Share it publicly or post it online.
  • Reproduce it for other students or other classrooms.

Payment

Payment details — including fees, due dates, and accepted methods — are communicated directly at enrollment. For school engagements, invoicing terms are outlined in the school proposal document. Full pricing details will be posted publicly on October 1, 2026.

Where payment is made online, it is processed through Stripe, a secure third-party payment platform. We do not see or store your payment card details.

Refunds

You may request a full refund any time before we begin building the book. Once writing has started, the fee for that book is non-refundable, because the work is personalized and cannot be resold or reused for another student.

If you are unhappy with a finished book, contact us and we will work with you to make it right.

Timing

We aim to deliver Book 1 within approximately four weeks of receiving a complete student profile. Later books follow after the family or teacher confirms the student is ready. These are good-faith estimates, not guarantees, and we will keep you informed if anything affects the timeline.

What we ask of you

Limits of what we promise

We care deeply about every student's reading journey, and we build each book with that goal in mind. We cannot, however, guarantee a specific reading outcome, since many factors shape how a child grows as a reader. We provide the book and the care behind it; we do not promise a particular result.

Who is responsible

The Right Story is operated by CulturaCanvas Studios, a sole proprietorship registered in Ontario, Canada.
